Seagate, the renowned American hard drive manufacturer, has recently unveiled a major breakthrough in its Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology. The company has successfully crafted a prototype hard drive disk boasting a staggering 6.9TB capacity. Furthermore, Seagate disclosed that it has wrapped up simulation tests for a disk with an 8TB single-disk capacity. As per Seagate's roadmap, disks with capacities surpassing 7TB are projected to commence mass production in the early 2030s, with the potential for single-disk capacities to soar to 15TB or even higher in the future.
