Research, spearheaded by Nicolas Cote-Colisson, reveals that OpenAI has recently ramped up its long-term cloud service procurement agreements, consequently escalating its funding needs. Presently, OpenAI has entered into a substantial cloud computing agreement with Microsoft, valued at $250 billion, along with a seven-year cloud services contract with Amazon, amounting to $38 billion. In the competitive landscape, Anthropic is also rapidly expanding its footprint. The Cote-Colisson research team underscored that the extent to which OpenAI can bridge its funding gap will hinge on variables that remain uncertain, including potential adjustments in procurement strategies, advancements in equity or debt financing endeavors, and the trajectory of revenue growth.
