Tencent Cloud faced accusations of a server configuration error that allegedly led to the exposure of sensitive information, raising security alarms. However, Tencent Cloud promptly clarified that the incident involved a proactively deployed honeypot system, a mechanism employed to attract hackers and analyze their attack techniques, rather than a genuine vulnerability. Notably, the honeypot did not contain any actual user data and was specifically designed to bolster security defenses. The relevant honeypot has since been deactivated. This event has had no direct impact on Tencent Cloud customers.
