The American asset management giant, Blackstone Group, intends to further extend its data center footprint in Spain's Autonomous Community of Aragon with an additional investment of €4.3 billion (approximately $5.03 billion). Aragon, aspiring to become a pivotal cloud computing hub, welcomes this enhanced commitment from Blackstone. Beyond the initial €7.5 billion pledge, Blackstone Group now unveils a second phase of the project aimed at augmenting capacity, scheduled for completion within seven years. The inaugural phase, kicking off in the second quarter of 2026, encompasses the construction of data centers, substations, photovoltaic power stations, and associated infrastructure. Notably, renewable energy supply contracts are already in place, and the cooling system is designed to be water-resource efficient.
