Due to recent layoffs at Intel, the email address of Fenghua Yu, the engineer responsible for maintaining the coretemp driver within the Linux kernel, has been deactivated. Consequently, the coretemp driver project has been labeled as unmaintained. Coretemp serves as a vital tool for monitoring Intel processor temperatures, offering critical data for system monitoring tasks. Prior to this development, Intel engineer Dave Hansen issued a patch that officially removed Fenghua Yu's maintainer status and temporarily placed the project in an unmaintained state.

Fenghua Yu, who has been with Intel since 2000 and has a long history of dedication to Linux kernel development, particularly in support of Intel hardware, stepped down from maintaining this module earlier in 2025.
