On August 1, Huatai Securities released a research report highlighting that superconducting materials exhibit zero resistance at specific temperatures, making them indispensable in power generation, industrial applications, and transportation. In comparison to low-temperature superconductors, high-temperature superconductors (HTS) extend their application range significantly due to their higher critical temperature, current carrying capacity, and magnetic field strength. Notably, the escalating demand for controlled nuclear fusion technology has spurred the mass production and cost reduction of HTS tapes beyond initial projections. As a result, the production costs of leading enterprises are now nearing the application cost threshold in industrial heating and power cable sectors, as forecasted by Huatai Securities. The firm remains optimistic about the growth potential in nuclear fusion demand, which is poised to further enhance the economic viability of HTS and potentially unlock a multi-billion yuan market.
