The Hang Seng Index commenced trading with a 0.28% gain, while the Hang Seng Tech Index recorded a 0.37% increase.
The pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector, along with the semiconductor sector, shone brightly, with Hengrui Medicine surging over 10% and Brain Technology advancing more than 2%. Conversely, the coal and paper sectors lagged behind, as China Coal Energy and Nine Dragons Paper both declined by more than 1%.
