During an earnings call on July 16, ASML's Chief Financial Officer, Roger Dassen, revealed that lifting Washington's restrictions on certain artificial intelligence processors would be instrumental in driving growth in chip demand. This week, NVIDIA announced that it had secured a license from the U.S. government, enabling it to export previously banned chips. Shortly after, its primary competitor, AMD, issued a similar statement. As the world's foremost manufacturer of advanced chip production equipment, ASML stands to gain from the increased demand for chips should its sales restrictions be lifted. However, trade disputes and global tensions have exerted pressure on the Dutch company's sales. On Wednesday, citing tariff risks as a key uncertainty, ASML withdrew its forecast for next year's growth.
