Intel has initiated a fresh wave of significant layoffs, primarily targeting its wafer manufacturing, automotive, and marketing divisions, with the wafer manufacturing department bearing the brunt of the cuts. Recent reports indicate that these layoffs have also commenced in Israel, despite consistent robust support from the Israeli government. The Fab 28 wafer factory in the Kiryat Gat region of Israel is set to be affected, with hundreds of employees, including middle managers, frontline directors, and technicians, anticipated to be impacted. Intel currently employs approximately 9,300 people in Israel, with roughly 4,000 of them working at the Fab 28 facility. This round of layoffs is a part of Intel's global restructuring plan aimed at bolstering the company's financial stability.
