Recently, significant developments have unfolded regarding the United States' export controls on Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools to China. On July 2, Synopsys announced that it had received notification from the US Department of Commerce, lifting the export restrictions on China with immediate effect, enabling the resumption of supply of previously restricted products to the Chinese market. Following suit, on July 3, Siemens confirmed receiving a similar notification and promptly restored full sales and technical support to its Chinese customers. As of now, two out of the three global EDA software giants have recommenced operations in China, and while Cadence Design Systems has yet to issue an official statement, media reports suggest that it too is resuming services in compliance with US export regulations. This easing of controls signifies the conclusion of an over-month-long EDA ban, eliciting a positive market response.
