On July 2, Dongshan Precision, a prominent Chinese printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturer, announced its intent to acquire Source Photonics, a leading optical communication company based in Taiwan's Hsinchu Science Park, for a sum of 5.935 billion yuan. In response, Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs has clarified that it has yet to receive an official application for a change in investment plans from Source Photonics and pledged to undertake a rigorous review process in collaboration with relevant departments upon receipt of such an application. This proposed acquisition has garnered significant international attention, particularly amidst concerns over potential technology outflows.
