The Japanese foundry Rapidus has ambitious plans to commence mass production of 2nm chips by 2027. Top executives from its partner IBM have recently affirmed their unwavering support for Rapidus in achieving this milestone, expressing enthusiasm for fostering a long-term partnership. In an interview, Mukesh Khare, the head of IBM's semiconductor research and development division, underscored IBM's commitment to deepening its collaboration with Rapidus, with the aim of propelling the development of the next generation of semiconductors.
