In a recent interview with People's Daily, Ren Zhengfei, the founder of Huawei, offered his insights on China's chip predicament. He assured that excessive anxiety about the chip issue is unwarranted. By leveraging innovative techniques such as stacking and clustering, Chinese chips can attain state-of-the-art computational capabilities. While acknowledging that Huawei's individual chips are currently a generation behind those of the United States, he emphasized that Huawei is actively working to bridge this gap. This involves employing mathematical methods to transcend physical limitations, non-Moore's Law techniques to augment traditional scaling methods, and group computing to bolster the performance of single chips, thereby meeting practical demands.
