The trade organization and industry association hold the view that Apple should refrain from altering App Store rules solely to comply with the court order in the lawsuit brought by Epic Games, as such action may violate Apple's First Amendment rights. In April of this year, a protracted legal battle between Epic and Apple culminated in a court ruling that found Apple guilty of deliberately breaching a 2021 injunction designed to dismantle anti-steering barriers for third-party businesses. Consequently, Apple was mandated to implement several modifications as a punitive measure.
