NSFC Launches Pilot 'Private Enterprise Joint Fund'

Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) held a signing ceremony in Beijing for its Joint Fund for Innovation and Development of Private Enterprises. Four prominent private enterprises – Hengrui Medicine, Mindray Medical, Synergy Medical, and Qilu Pharmaceutical – have officially joined the fund, signifying a significant advancement in the participation of China's private sector in national basic research. The objective of this joint fund is to steer and bolster technology-driven private enterprises to enhance their investments in foundational research, concentrate on pivotal scientific challenges within key technological domains, foster deep integration between technological and industrial innovation, and ignite the innovative spirit within enterprises.

During the signing ceremony, representatives from the participating enterprises pledged to undertake crucial research in frontier areas such as tumor immunology, medical imaging equipment, biomedical materials, and biopharmaceuticals. They emphasized their commitment to accelerating the transformation of related scientific research outcomes and contributing to China's technological innovation and industrial upgrading.
