In response to the penalties imposed by the European Union's Digital Markets Act, Apple has introduced revised App Store terms. These terms now permit developers to utilize third-party payment methods, albeit with certain conditions. Developers must sign a new agreement and incur three types of fees: an initial customer acquisition fee, a store service fee, and a core technology commission. Developers face two options: a tier-one service with a 5% commission offering basic functionality, or a tier-two service with a 13% commission granting access to all features. Furthermore, for in-app purchases made outside the app, Apple will impose a 5% core technology commission, along with a technology fee of €0.50 per download for high-volume apps. This shift is Apple's strategy to address the $570 million fine previously levied by the EU for its "anti-steering" policies, which Apple intends to contest.
