Recent revelations have highlighted a concerning security flaw in a Bluetooth chip prevalent across more than 20 audio devices. This vulnerability enables hackers to eavesdrop or steal sensitive information. Brands affected include Beyerdynamic, Bose, Sony, Marshall, Jabra, JBL, and others, impacting a total of 29 products such as speakers, earbuds, over-ear headphones, and wireless microphones. These vulnerabilities were unveiled by cybersecurity researchers at the German TROOPERS security conference, with vulnerability IDs CVE-2025-20700, CVE-2025-20701, and CVE-2025-20702, with CVE-2025-20702 being rated as highly severe. Exploiting these flaws, attackers can intercept device connections within Bluetooth range, issue commands, and even extract Bluetooth link keys to eavesdrop on calls and steal contact information. Fortunately, the chip manufacturer has issued update patches, and device manufacturers are actively developing and distributing these patches to mitigate the risk.
