Jefferies has downgraded the ratings of Dutch semiconductor equipment giants ASML and ASM International, citing a gloomy outlook for industry spending. According to analysts, spending on wafer fab equipment is projected to decline by 1% in 2026, significantly undershooting the market consensus of double-digit growth. This forecast has led to a 1.8% drop in ASML's share price during pre-market trading, while ASM International saw a modest decline of 0.14%. The report further highlights that both companies' sales and earnings per share projections for fiscal year 2026 fall short of market consensus estimates.
