On June 25, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office issued a response to the decision by Taiwan's economic authorities to include 601 entities, including mainland chip companies Huawei and SMIC, in the 'Export Control List.' This action has raised concerns among investors on the island, who fear that the associated 'export bans' may adversely affect Taiwan's semiconductor industry. Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, condemned the Democratic Progressive Party authorities for compromising Taiwan's tariff interests while consistently undermining cross-strait economic cooperation. She further accused them of collaborating with the United States to suppress mainland enterprises for political gain. Zhu affirmed that forceful measures will be taken to uphold the normal order of cross-strait economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, as well as safeguard the interests and well-being of compatriots.
