On June 20, Bloomberg reported that Iran had imposed a nationwide shutdown of internet and telephone communication services. In a statement cited by the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, Iran's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology explained that this was a temporary yet necessary measure taken to safeguard against cyberattacks emanating from Israel. The ministry attributed this decision to "the misuse of the country's communication networks by hostile entities."
