Recently, in a high-profile dialogue, Foxconn director and former TSMC Chief Operating Officer Jiang Shangyi reminisced about the growth trajectory of TSMC. He confessed that the biggest regret of his 50-year career in the semiconductor industry was not being able to surpass Intel during his tenure at TSMC. Ironically, TSMC accomplished this feat shortly after his retirement. Jiang Shangyi further highlighted that TSMC's production model and robust R&D investments have positioned it as a highly competitive player in the global wafer foundry market, forecasting a sustained and stable growth trajectory over the next 5 to 10 years.
