TerraPower, the nuclear energy company founded by former world's richest man Bill Gates, has recently announced the successful completion of a new funding round, raising $650 million. Alongside continued investment from Gates and other existing shareholders, this round also saw the participation of NVentures, the venture capital arm of the prominent chipmaker NVIDIA. To date, TerraPower has amassed over $2 billion in private funding and received an additional $2 billion grant from the U.S. government for the construction of the first commercial advanced nuclear power plant in Wyoming.
This innovative nuclear power plant employs liquid sodium cooling technology and is equipped with a molten salt energy storage system, promising to supply electricity to approximately 400,000 households.
