The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has overturned a previous decision mandating Apple to pay $300 million in damages to Optis Wireless Technology. This decision was part of a broader lawsuit where Optis accused Apple of infringing on its LTE technology patents. The appellate court observed instructional errors made by the jury during deliberations, specifically failing to assess each patent infringement claim against Apple individually. Consequently, the case will be retried in Texas. Optis maintains its conviction that its patents merit fair compensation, whereas Apple has already appealed a similar case in the United Kingdom.
