The RTX 4090, owing to its rarity and substantial profit margins, has unfortunately become a prime target for counterfeiters. Recently, YouTube blogger Fydn encountered a disturbing case involving RTX 4090 counterfeiting. A consumer who had bought four graphics cards found that none of them would power on. Upon sending them to Fydn for inspection, it was revealed that the core chips of three of these cards had been deceitfully swapped with GA102 chips, which are used in the previous-generation RTX 3090/3080 series. To further conceal their fraud, the counterfeiters had removed the original labels and replaced them with ones indicating AD102, making it exceptionally challenging for the average individual to detect the switch. Although the core of the remaining graphics card was indeed AD102, it too required repairs to function properly.
