Lianzhou International, the export arm of TP-Link, is set to undergo a significant restructuring within its WiFi chip department. The company plans to retain only a skeleton staff in critical roles, such as algorithms, verification, and design, while offering an N+3 compensation package to those affected by the layoffs. This strategic adjustment aims to discontinue the WiFi frontend module R&D line, while not entirely withdrawing from the WiFi chip industry. This decision may be attributed to the imminent mass production of WiFi 7 chips and ongoing efforts towards cost control. TP-Link, a leading global manufacturer of network equipment, once held a dominant 45% share of the router market.
