Micron Technology has informed its customers that production of DDR4 memory will come to an end in the upcoming quarters, with shipments anticipated to gradually decline over the next six to nine months. This strategic shift aligns with earlier announcements made by Samsung and SK Hynix, both of whom also intend to discontinue DDR4 production in favor of next-generation memory technologies, including DDR5, LPDDR5, and high-bandwidth memory. As these leading DRAM manufacturers transition out of the DDR4 market, market supply is forecasted to decrease markedly, potentially resulting in supply shortages.
