AMD has broadened its Ryzen Z2 series processor portfolio by introducing two innovative chips. Chief among them is the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, which boasts an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This addition to the existing Z2 Extreme configuration propels AI processing capabilities, delivering an impressive 50 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of computing power and supporting the advanced Copilot+ functionality. The second chip, the entry-level Ryzen Z2 A, is built on the efficient Zen 2 architecture. While offering more modest specifications, it consumes power within a range of 6-20 watts, contributing to enhanced battery life. These latest offerings from AMD appear tailored for the handheld gaming console market, strategically timed ahead of the upcoming holiday shopping season.
