The United States has recently imposed a stringent ban on the supply of EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools critical for the design of GAAFET (Gate-All-Around Field-Effect Transistor) structures, which are integral to TSMC's advanced 2nm chip technology. According to insights shared by the influential blogger Digital Chat Station, this ban poses a significant challenge for other chipmakers, such as Xuanjie, who may struggle to advance beyond the 3nm node and into the realm of 2nm for an extended period. Consequently, this development could position Apple, Qualcomm, and MediaTek as the exclusive users of TSMC's cutting-edge 2nm process in the near future, potentially making Xuanjie O1 the last high-end chip to rival them before the technological gap widens.
