The Automotive Semiconductor Research Alliance (ASRA) of Japan has officially submitted an innovative automotive chip communication standard to the international UCIe alliance, with the ambitious goal of establishing Japan as a leader in electrified vehicle technology. Comprised of 14 prominent companies, including Toyota and Honda, ASRA is dedicated to the development of Chiplet-based automotive System-on-Chips (SoCs), targeting mass adoption in Japanese vehicles by 2030. The proposed standard encompasses a robust communication error recovery mechanism and stringent security performance standards, designed to streamline the development process for automotive chips.
Founded in 2023, ASRA aims to revolutionize the automotive industry by reducing costs and development time through standardized design practices. Currently, the submitted proposal is under discussion within the UCIe alliance's automotive subcommittee, with the objective of accelerating the finalization and global adoption of this groundbreaking standard.
