Siemens EDA (formerly known as Mentor Graphics) is rumored to be contemplating the suspension of support and services for mainland China, evidenced by the inaccessibility of some of its technical websites to users within the country. This potential move is allegedly driven by the "decoupling" directive issued by the Bureau of Industry and Security of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Furthermore, two other prominent U.S. EDA providers, Synopsys and Cadence, might also adopt similar measures. Should these reports materialize, it would present a formidable obstacle for chip design enterprises in mainland China that heavily rely on imported EDA tools.
