A report released by Cellular Insights, commissioned by Qualcomm, reveals that in the T-Mobile 5G network in New York City, Qualcomm's X75/X80 basebands significantly outperform Apple's in-house C1 baseband. Android devices equipped with Qualcomm basebands exhibited download speeds 35% faster and upload speeds 91% faster than the iPhone 16e. Qualcomm boasts support for more advanced carrier aggregation technology, whereas the iPhone 16e underperformed in this area and experienced overheating during testing. Qualcomm asserts that this study is the only comprehensive and scientifically rigorous comparison conducted in the U.S. network environment. Nevertheless, prior Ookla tests have indicated that Apple's baseband excels in certain scenarios.
