Starfish Neuroscience, the pioneering brain-computer interface (BCI) startup founded by Gabe Newell, the visionary CEO of Valve Corporation, has announced its intention to introduce its inaugural BCI chip by the close of 2025. Newell quietly established Starfish Neuroscience in 2019, the same year Valve publicly explored the promising applications of BCIs within the gaming industry at the Game Developers Conference. Following years of intensive research and development, this chip, equipped with foundational "electrophysiological" capabilities, is poised for release. Theoretically, it holds the potential to enable "mind-controlled computers" and is anticipated to find use in neural therapies for specific ailments.
