Over the past two decades, 80PLUS has established itself as a prominent standard for power supply efficiency, encompassing six tiers of certification, notably including Gold, Platinum, and the previously pinnacle, Titanium. Titanium mandated a conversion efficiency of 96% under 50% load. However, the escalating energy demands of AI and data centers have necessitated a new benchmark. This year, 80PLUS has introduced the Ruby tier, which sets an even higher bar with a required conversion efficiency exceeding 96.5%, thereby claiming the top spot among current standards. Notably, the Ruby tier also introduces an evaluation for low-power conversion efficiency for the first time, demanding an efficiency of over 90% under 5% load.
