The 29th World Gas Conference kicked off on May 20, with its main forum held on the 22nd. During the forum, Yang Xiuling, Director of the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, highlighted Beijing's strides in leveraging technological innovation to refine regulations and policies, thereby enhancing energy efficiency. This has enabled the city to sustain an average annual economic growth rate of 5.2% while keeping the average annual energy consumption growth rate at just 1.5%. Beijing's energy landscape has undergone a remarkable transformation, positioning it as the first city in China to fully embrace clean energy generation. By 2024, the city's coal consumption has plummeted to below 1%, while the share of green electricity has surged to 29.3%.
