Kioxia, in partnership with Kyocera, has made its debut at Computex Taipei with a groundbreaking optical interface Solid State Drive (SSD). Leveraging advanced fiber optics and laser technology, this SSD maintains identical performance to conventional SSDs over optical cables spanning up to 30 meters or beyond, overcoming the constraints posed by traditional copper wire and electronic signal transmission. This cutting-edge innovation negates the necessity for close proximity between computing and storage devices, thereby boosting the efficiency and dependability of data centers. Live demonstrations showcased two identical SSDs, both delivering exceptional 4K random read bandwidth and speed under both traditional and optical connectivity setups.
