Malaysia's Ministry of Trade is set to introduce a series of incentives for the semiconductor industry in July. As reported by national news agency Bernama, Trade Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz remarked that, while the specifics of the measures cannot be disclosed at this juncture, the government remains committed to supporting the chip manufacturing sector. Prior to this announcement, the Malaysian government had already rolled out the "NIMP 2030" and the "National Semiconductor Industry Strategy," both aimed at propelling the semiconductor industry towards the upper echelons of the value chain. The strategies involve offering generous subsidies to attract both domestic and foreign investments, with a particular focus on areas like chip design, advanced packaging, and manufacturing equipment. Furthermore, the establishment of a Semiconductor Chip Design Park and an Advanced Semiconductor Academy signifies the nation's dedication to accelerating talent development and industrial upgrading.
