On May 21, the Ministry of Commerce spokesperson issued a statement in response to the United States' proposed global ban on advanced Chinese computing chips. Recently, the U.S. Department of Commerce unveiled guidelines presumed to target violations of its export controls, aiming to prohibit the use of advanced Chinese computing chips globally, particularly Huawei's Ascend chips. China emphasized that this action by the U.S. constitutes an abuse of export controls, intended to suppress and contain China, which violates international law and norms governing international relations. Furthermore, it seriously infringes upon the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and undermines China's development interests.
China underscored that these U.S. measures are suspected of imposing discriminatory restrictions on Chinese enterprises. Any organization or individual that enforces or assists in enforcing these measures may be suspected of violating relevant Chinese laws and regulations, thereby incurring legal responsibility.
