U.S. legislators have introduced the "Chip Security Act," mandating the integration of location tracking technology into high-end AI GPUs and chips within 180 days. This measure aims to prevent sensitive technology from being diverted to specific countries, particularly mainland China. The bill enjoys the support of lawmakers such as Bill Huizenga of Michigan and Bill Foster of Illinois. Additionally, the legislation requires exporters to remotely disable and report any chips found to have been diverted or misused to the U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security. Concurrently, the U.S. Department of Commerce has repealed the "Artificial Intelligence Export Control Rules" but has intensified its controls over global semiconductors and AI chips, explicitly stating that the use of Huawei's Ascend AI chips would contravene U.S. export regulations.
