In response to competition concerns raised by European regulators and to avert potential antitrust penalties, Microsoft pledged on Friday to offer its Office 365 and Microsoft 365 software suites separately from its Teams business communication app. The European Commission issued a statement acknowledging that Microsoft had made commitments to address the bundling of Teams with its popular productivity tools, including Word and Outlook. This decision signifies Microsoft's effort to resolve the dispute with the EU and circumvent significant antitrust fines. According to the proposal, Microsoft will introduce versions of Office 365 and Microsoft 365 that exclude Teams and will be priced lower, while also enhancing interoperability between Teams competitors and other Microsoft products.
