Following China's imposition of export controls on certain medium and heavy rare earths on April 4, the global supply of these minerals has tightened, resulting in a notable surge in prices for some products. Drawing parallels from China's past export restrictions on commodities like germanium, gallium, antimony, and tungsten, domestic prices typically experience a significant uptick after a brief period of adjustment. Consequently, the industry anticipates that domestic rare earth prices will stabilize and rebound, mirroring the substantial price increases observed overseas. CICC's research report underscores the need for continued monitoring of the evolving dynamics within the rare earth sector.
