Intel, on the 24th of the month, local time, unveiled a comprehensive plan for layoffs and organizational restructuring. Although the company refrained from disclosing precise layoff numbers, it confirmed that the process would commence in the second quarter of this year and extend over several months. According to Bloomberg, approximately 20,000 employees, constituting one-fifth of Intel's workforce, are anticipated to be affected by these changes. Notably, this comes after Intel had already implemented layoffs of roughly 15,000 employees in August 2024.
