On April 25, multiple sources from technology firms requiring semiconductor imports revealed that tariffs on eight tax categories related to semiconductors and integrated circuits have been lifted, with the exception of memory chips for the time being. This signifies a reduction in import tariffs from 125% to 0% for specific chips manufactured in the United States. An analog chip company based in Shanghai confirmed receiving a notification on April 24th afternoon, stating that select products imported from American semiconductor manufacturers would be exempt from tariffs, requiring only the payment of a 13% value-added tax. However, memory chips are not currently listed in the tax exemption. Furthermore, enterprises that have already paid import taxes on related semiconductor products between April 10th and 24th are eligible to apply for tax refunds. The company verified that a shipment of U.S. semiconductor products imported on April 24th was not subject to any tariffs. A sales executive from a prominent chip distributor also confirmed this news, noting that their customers have resumed normal declarations and imports of U.S. chips.
