At the North America Technology Forum 2025, TSMC unveiled its groundbreaking 1.4nm A14 process, with mass production scheduled for the first half of 2028. This advanced process stands in direct competition with Intel's 1.4nm-class technology. Compared to TSMC's N2 2nm process, the A14 boasts a significant 10-15% increase in performance and a remarkable 25-30% reduction in power consumption at the same power level. Additionally, it offers a substantial 23% boost in logic transistor density. The A14 process leverages second-generation GAAFET all-around nanosheet transistors and the innovative NanoFlex Pro architecture, though it will initially forgo the inclusion of a Super Power Rail back-side power supply network. TSMC has assured that an enhanced version, the A14P, will be introduced in 2029.
