On April 17, Shanghai Grid reached a historic milestone by surpassing 4 million kW of renewable energy generation capacity for the first time, specifically reaching 4,103,000 kW. By the end of March, the installed capacity of wind and solar power in Shanghai had climbed to 5.5 million kW, comprising 20.4% of the city's total installed capacity. Since 2025, Shanghai has witnessed a remarkable surge in green power transactions, totaling 660 million kWh through multi-period market mechanisms, a significant jump from the previous year's figures. This growth has been accompanied by a notable increase in the number of participating enterprises, spanning diverse sectors including export-oriented enterprises, data centers, chip manufacturing, and automotive manufacturing.
The State Grid Shanghai Electric Power Company has announced its commitment to further optimizing grid connection management for renewable energy sources. This includes deepening the integration of green power transactions with the carbon market and actively promoting a clean and low-carbon transition within Shanghai's energy sector.
