Reddit user EssDee3D shared a curious incident where the RTX 5080 FE graphics card they purchased was inadvertently labeled as RTX 5090, despite all purchase documentation, the invoice, and packaging clearly indicating RTX 5080. To confirm the actual model, EssDee3D uploaded a video showcasing that both Windows Task Manager and GPU-Z correctly identified the graphics card as RTX 5080.
It has been reported that the only part of this graphics card that uses RTX 5090 components is the backplate, while the core remains RTX 5080. This mix-up is attributed to the similar physical dimensions and interchangeable casing components between the two models.
