The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) of Japan has announced a significant investment of 160 billion yen to foster the growth of the domestic semiconductor design industry. This strategic allocation aims to elevate Japan's global market share and address its current shortcomings in the semiconductor design and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tool markets. Furthermore, Japan intends to reinforce its talent pool by dedicating approximately 50 billion yen over the next five years, commencing in 2023, to support design and development initiatives. This ambitious move is anticipated to have a profoundly positive impact on Japan's semiconductor industry.
