A research team headed by Professors Song Qinghai and Zhou Yu from the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) has achieved a significant breakthrough in the realm of silicon carbide integrated optical quantum entanglement devices. The team has successfully generated entangled states of single electrons and nuclear spins within silicon carbide waveguides positioned on insulating layers, while maintaining effective control at ambient temperatures. This milestone lays a crucial foundation for the integration of optical quantum information processing on silicon carbide chips and heralds further advancements in the application of integrated optical quantum information technology within the domains of quantum networks and quantum sensing.
