During a press conference on January 21, Xie Cun, Director of the Information and Communication Development Department at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), unveiled plans to propel the information and communication industry towards significant advancements by 2025. Central to these efforts will be a threefold strategy focusing on 'construction, application, and research'. Firstly, MIIT aims to enhance the policy framework for 'dual-gigabit' networks, initiate pilot projects for 10-gigabit optical networks, and refine the distribution of computing power centers, thereby fostering network evolution and upgrades. Secondly, the ministry will elevate 5G applications and the integration of '5G+Industrial Internet', expedite the widespread adoption of next-generation information technologies, and achieve integrated application upgrades. Lastly, MIIT will augment investments in 5G evolution and 6G technological innovation, while expanding the openness of telecommunications services in a timely manner to bolster innovative capabilities. These initiatives are aimed at ensuring the sustained and robust development of the information and communication industry.
