China Unicom Guangdong has recently introduced a 10G optical network pilot in the twin cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, offering downstream speeds that soar up to 10,000Mbps. This groundbreaking technology empowers users to download a 2-hour 8K HD movie in just a matter of seconds. To date, China Unicom Guangdong has illuminated 43 residential communities and business districts with 10G connectivity in these cities, with ambitious plans to establish 300 10G pilot sites by 2025. This expansive rollout includes 150 10G residential communities, 100 10G business districts, and 50 10G parks. Furthermore, the 10G pilot is set to broaden its reach beyond the Pearl River Delta, extending into eastern, western, and northern Guangdong, with the ultimate goal of realizing a "10G Guangdong." Huawei has played a pivotal role in this endeavor, providing technical expertise to jointly construct 10G ultra-broadband channels.
