The European Commission aims to prohibit the use of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in consumer products, while granting exceptions for critical industrial applications. PFAS, owing to their non-biodegradable nature, linger in the environment, sparking concerns about ecosystems, drinking water safety, and human health. These chemicals are commonly found in a myriad of consumer goods; however, their detrimental effects have compelled the EU to intervene.
